Author Elie Mystal: On Allies & Showing Up

Elie Mystal joined the Lurie Daniel Favors Show to talk about the Constitution and its overall trashiness as a document. Elie is The Nation’s justice correspondent where he covers the courts, the criminal justice system, and politics. He is the force behind the magazine’s monthly column “Objection!” and his first book, Allow Me to Retort: A Black Guy’s Guide to the Constitution, was released on March 1, 2022. The Constitution wasn't just written by racist slave owners - it was also written by White people who were either allies of slave owners, or indifferent to Black suffering. In Part 3, Elie gives some insight on the role that Black "allies" should play when they are in spaces that Black people cannot enter. Catch the Lurie Daniel Favors Show live Monday - Friday 10 AM EST on SiriusXM's Urban View Channel 126.
